UMPC Accessories: What can we expect?

As we get closer to seeing the UMPCs in stores, we thought it would be interesting to think about the accessories that might hit the shelves as well. This is just an idea of where the UMPCs accessory market might take us in the near future…

umpc_kb.png
  • A full sized keyboard with a neat dock that will make life much easier for those who need to use it when at desk.
  • A USB mini foldable keyboard for those who travel.
  • A Dock that has an RF receiver so we can use those RF remote controls to do stuff and UMPCast some shows, movies and music to other gadgets.
  • A Remote control, something along the lines of what we have for Media Center PCs but much smaller and smarter.
  • A lightweight DVR Software customized for the UMPC that can record live TV/ shows and store them (ah, we have the sling media giving us a hand already)

We’re excited to hear from you too…

Will DELL get in to the UMPC market?

You bet. Our readers are creative, Thanks to our reader John who sent us this mockup, looks pretty neat and we wanted to share it with you.

Why not, with so much of potential in the market, it is very easy for dell to come up with one such product with various configurations and BEAT those markets out there with super low prices. Sure they might have a Samsung screen, an Intel chipset and processors in a neat casing from DELL,. it would not take long…

Go ahead let us know that you think about it, and do send us stuff like this

More Questions Answered: Origami Project

The Origami Project Team lead Dustin has an article, which has more information and answers for lot of our questions like

  • Does the origami have instant on?
  • Origami doesn’t have Voice Recognition for better accessability!
  • Apple is better and their products are sexier and better designed!
  • No one will look twice at a device that has a life of 3 hours.
  • I still see a big disappointment: where is the good old keyboard?
  • Is there any restriction on being able to download iTunes to this?
  • I’ve seen it asked “Will Vista run well on the UPMC?”
