Medis Technologies announces a breakthough technology in batteries. We hope it comes to the rescue of our UMPCs sooner. Looks like they have already tested some prototype batteries that attain new levels of power and performance from its fuel cells. These fuel cells sustain power over 12 hours… Here is an excert from the press release
Medis Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ:MDTL) today announced that recent breakthroughs in its fuel cell technology enable it to achieve new heights in the level of power and performance life from its proprietary fuel cells. It has already successfully tested prototype demonstrators of external power chargers for Notebook computers capable of providing over 15 watts and up to12 volts of steady power over a period of 12 hours from a single fueling. This is a new platform with higher capabilities of power that allow the Company to address additional markets requiring even greater power than its present Power Pack product. Sumocat has an interesting post on creating links with ink. Sure, this will come in very handy when UMPC becomes popular and people want to use the pen to blog. (atleast until wee se those sleek foldable UMPCs with built-in keyboards).
In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve developed a new method for creating links in ink. The previous attempt used the obvious solution of image mapping. However, this method isn’t very useful since it lacks a good way to highlight a link, as with underlining text. Thus, I’ve come up with something new.
Instead of a map, I’ve decided to go with layers. After tooling with the code, I boiled down a template that links to an external script and style sheet. All I have to do is fill in the link info.
I upload the resultant web page and ink images to my web site. Then in Blogger, I paste in the code for the inline frame followed by the text. Takes a few more steps than my usual process, but it’s nice to have the option available.

Remember the Dell UMPC mock up that we had on our site… (click here if you have not seen it yet). Now Ultranauts has posted…
Dell has thrown its hat into the Origami ring and sends word that they will have 2 UMPC models coming out by “early summer. Dubbed the Dellie and the Dellie XPS, the devices will be priced at $599 and $1299, respectively.
“Our new Dellie line continues Dell’s long heritage of taking new technologies and making them mainstream. We believe our successes with our MP3 player line and our Axiom PDA line speak volumes about our ability to deliver UMPCs that really bring the best of both of those worlds together. This is a device for the masses.
Detailed specs for each model are due to be released on May 1st, in exactly one month. Dell says that the entry-level Dellie UMPC will be very competitive with the current offers we’ve seen from other manufactures. Dell is working closely with Intel and a “leading graphics chip innovator to develop the new Dellie XPS, which will feature enhanced visual and sound capabilities.
Well, we all know that it’s a April 1st News and not surprised at this and so is UMPC Buzz and click here to read what he says.
