Asus R2H Price and Availability

Now these are news from sources other than Asus, so we are not 100% sure on the exact details. Steve over at carrypad found a news that says the price in UK would be £799. John from Ultranauts says “the R2H has entered manufacturing and packaging and will ’ship’ in November

This sounds kinda cool. With the price tag of £799 and shipping in November Asus should be able to catch up with the other UMPCs. As we all know, UMPCs are not availalbe in places you want it to be. Hopefully Asus will announce better availability.

Windows Vista on UMPCs

So looks like Vista should be just fine on the eo, well as expected there were some issues here and there, Thoughtfix has posted the details along with this video.

  • It defaults to 800×600 with no antialiasing. The text is near unreadable until you fix the resolution. The wrong resolution sticks the screen in a flicker until reboot.
  • The XP graphics driver works fine.
  • I couldn’t get the touchscreen to work at all, even after installing the driver.
  • All the wireless LAN driver installs “errored out” saying they must be run on Windows XP or Windows 2000. I even tried installing them in “XP SP2 compatibility mode” and still failed.
