Sure enough there were so many of us waiting for the Asus R2H in the US. Today Lora over at Whatisnew found the device on newegg, yes Asus did say that the device will be available from all of their online retailers but none carried in the US except Dynamism(though they are not yet in the list from Asus)
Sure we did order ours, go ahead order yours now (oops they are out of stock!) but you could enter your email address and get notified when it becomes available.

Even before the UMPCs there was OQO. The only problem was the price, recently the company lowered the pricing on their devices. These are now starting from $1199 very close what the UMPCs are selling for. Looks like future versions of the OQO might sport even more features.

The next OQO handheld PC, which could be out as soon as the Consumer Electronics Show in January, will have a brighter screen, improved keyboard, more memory, a bigger hard drive and wide-area wireless capability, all for about the same price as the current model. It already has WiFi and Bluetooth [..]

It’s time to learn Korean, There are these cool gadgets that are available (only for the Asian market though) and if you try to find more information, you’ll end up in all Korean sites. We found this device in the wild yes, it’s called the iStation S43 from a company called “Digital Cube“. We heard about some of their devices like the i series, but this is new. Though this might not be considered as a UMPC but it does have a lot of features of an UMPC.

This device seem to be playing audio & video and sports WiFi, 800 X 480 TFT screen powered by AMD and running on Windows CE. Does this sound like the vega! more pictures after the jump

Sure, If you are reading this - chances are you already know what an UMPC is? or a lot more than the rest of the crowd. But millions out there have no clue about the UMPCs are what the dimensions are. We came across this MP3 player named “miniplayer”, we were wondering why would they compare that to the Samsung Q1?
Looks like they wanted to show that the miniplayer is really a mini and they have the image posted below. Funny they should have done this with an iPod or may be a Zune or a Creative? Why an UMPC?

Well for sure they are different, but the fact that these were the first available UMPCs in the market targeted at 2 different crowds - says CTitanic. He has been the owner of the eo for a long time now and he just received his Q1 and shares his thoughts on the devices.
The verdict: “The Samsung Q1 and the eo V7100 are two completely different machines targeting two different market share.“

So, is the Q1 better? No. There is not such thing as the best UMPC. The Q1 is good in many things but I find the button layout, the screen sensitive and the joystick mouse more important features for me than all those present in the Q1. I use for long period of time my eo holding it with my two hands -PSP style - something that I can’t do with my Q1.
There are many things that each company could learn from each other, that’s for sure.
The Q1 is the best multimedia UMPC while eo V7110 is a perfect working machine. The eo v7110 have a lot bigger selection of 2.5″ HDDs that can be installed on it and they are a lot cheaper than the 1.8″ used in Samsung’s Q1. And it’s a lot easier to replace the HDD in an eo than in a Q1. This probably will make the eo the option number 1 for any IT Manager in charge of any large Production Company [...]
