Asus T83 specs and video

Bjorn over at Ultra Mobile Life has some more details of the Asus T83. Here is a short video of the device too

Specification of the device

  • VIA C7-M processor running at 1.0 GHz
  • VIA VX700 chipset
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 40GB hard drive.
  • GPS unit
  • webcam above the screen
  • Bluetooth, 802.11b/g, & LAN

…What’s most impressive about this new design, is that it’s fanless. ASUS has got all the thermals right and coupled it with a much cooler CPU resulting in a much quieter UMPC. Additionally, they are getting five hours of battery life on this device, much better than the 3 hours touted for Samsung’s Q1 Ultra. The measurements for the T83 come in at 222mm x 156mm x 29mm and it weighs in at ~950 grams…

HTC’s almost UMPC gets a price in UK

Remember the HTC Athena, then the Ameo and later the Advantage, yes looks like T-Mobile like the Ameo better than the last heard Advantage branding. Reg Hardware reports the device is ready to be launched and priced at a mere £120 (~US $235), of course this is with the right plan. This is a sweet deal.

Asus T83 — More details emerge

Looking at the importance that UMPC has gained in CeBIT, it would have been real fun to be there. Engadget has posted more details and pictures of the new Asus UMPC which was released in CeBIT.

Looks like the Asus T83 is not really a rugged as it was announced to be. The device features a

  • 7-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen display
  • XP Tablet running on a 1GHz Via C7-M processor
  • 512MB of RAM (expandable to 2GB)
  • at least a 30GB disk
  • GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi
  • camera
  • 950 grams
  • fully tactile QWERTY and
  • up to 6 hours off battery.

the T83 is expected to go global in Q3 for anywhere between $899 and $999. With the significant increase in the battery life and keeping the price still below a grand seems like a good choice.
