When Samsung launched their Q1 UMPC, personally I did not like the design, look and feel of it. This has changed with the Q2.
The design of the product looks very promising. Here are some of the improvements over the previous design
- Built in QWERTY keyboard without the sliding or opening of anything.
- HSDPA & WiBRO support
- They claim it’s around 1.5 lbs which is great & less than 1 inch.
- A standard battery that lasts for 4 hrs
- 6 hrs of battery life with the extended battery
- A built in camera
- and more accessories

Guys at Gizmodo got their hands on a FlipStart and posted dozens of photos of the device. Also this which makes the FlipStart look really big.

In it, you can see just how super small it is (5.9 x 4.5 x 1.6 inches, weighing at a little less than two pounds), how the keyboard works, and how that 1024 x 600 display looks. You won’t be able to see the 1.1 GHz Pentium M, the 512MB of RAM, the 30GB hard drive, or the 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, so you’ll have to take our word on that.

Remember the FlipStart, Crave is reporting about the full review of the FlipStart E1001S by PC Mag (we were not able to get to the page mentioned).
The E-1001S flips open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard and a 5.6-inch screen with a 1024×600 resolution. With a Pentium M CPU, a 30GB hard drive, and only 512MB of RAM, it’s probably not going to be your main notebook, but for basic Web-surfing and e-mailing, we’d be willing to give it a shot. Other cool extras include a secondary display on the lid for checking e-mail while the lid is closed, an EVDO antenna, and both a touchpad and pointing stick.
Vulcan was started by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, so the company has a serious technology pedigree. There’s no release date yet, but PC Mag says the E-1001S will go for $1,999.
$2000 seems way too much for this device. Not sure if you agree with us.

When we installed Vista on the Asus R2H we did face a lot of issues but that was when Vista was in it’s beta. Now after the launch of Vista a lot of people seem to having varied opinions.
Again, if you are planning on a new computer chances are it would be pre-installed with Vista (most of the drivers and things might just work). But if you are upgrading think again and you may want to keep your Existing OS. Oh speaking of which — if you have bought a Vista Upgrade package, here is a Workaround Discovered For “Clean Install” With Vista Upgrade DVDs.
