Agreed. I was excited to buy one of these after reading up on US-centric sites. Its a niche product, but it fills the exact niche I am in. After seeing the price though I wont be buying from au.

I really think that theres a feedback cycle here, where products are released at higher prices in au, and products that attract "educated people / early adopters" who are likely to compare prices, realise they are being shafted, buy elsewhere and kill the market.

Seen these for $1000. Adding our Goods & Services Tax, shipping and import duty adds up to around $1300. $2100 is ridiculous, its an insult. That $1300 figure includes shipping, duties and sales tax in the US, then individual shipping to another country, another round of sales tax and duties here - and its still 2/3rds the price.

Drives me insane.

What crap. Aussie consumers get shafted again. Do what I did - I got mine from mobileplanet in the US. $1500 express shipped. Works a treat. It seems they are charging us an extra $700 for a bluetooth keybaord and an extrenal DVD, whoch you can buy separately for less than $100 if you look in the right places :)

It has an International warranty, so I dont give a toss if Asus here wont support it - I'll send it back under its US warranty.
