You must have heard about the UREN (you know how to pronounce it) UMPC that was built for Cars. This seems much better. This device was announced in Intel developer Conference at Seoul from a company called “INFILL” product dubbed the “G4″.

The most important thing about the device is that it’s made for your car, period. They seem have built a lot of custom software that are apt for being used in car. This could potentially replace your main audio, video, GPS, Radio, TV in your car.

You might have noticed that none of the UMPCs today have PCMCIA slots, meaning if you are on roads and still be connected, you can not depend on those free WiFi networks (like Google’s in Mountain View). That’s where the Franklin Wireless USB EVDO comes to the rescue.

There has been a great deal of compliant about the battery life of the UMPC devices, Samsung Q1 and Amtek(Tabletkiosk, paceblade and SmartCaddie) have been the ones that are available in the Market. Both of the manufacturers have released their optional battery pack which would keep the UMPCs alive for about double(~5hrs) the time it used to be (~2.5hrs). We hope Asus would also offer something similar to its competitors.

Yes, For those of you who have already bought the Q1 - sorry. From today Samsung announced that Q1 will get a Keyboard along with a carry case(pictured below) at no extra cost. Still not sure if this offer is valid in the US.

Samsung is bundling a plug-in keyboard with its pioneering Q1 ultra-mobile PC (UMPC), the company announced today. It fits into a folding case that can also carry the portable.
The ‘organiser bundle’, as the company calls it, is available now at £799 inc VAT – the same as the launch price of the machine without a keyboard.
Mark Jennings, Samsing’s UK notebook business manager, said: ‘The free organiser bundle and additional range of Q1 accessories, in particular our extended battery and power options, builds on consumer demand for flexibility and mobility in computing devices.’
He said sales of the Q1 had already exceeded expectations. The Q1 is the first ultra-mobile built to Microsoft Origami spec to be widely available in the shops. It has full Tablet PC functionality, which means it has viable handwriting recognition and can be used without a keyboard.
But the inclusion of one is a bonus for people who use the machine for heavy bouts of writing.
