Well Steve over at carrypad would start screaming if I were to say this is not an UMPC, and there has been enough number of people who have talked about this. Nevertheless this device is a nice alternative to the UMPC. Looks like this does not have touchscreen (no mentions of it anywhere).

The device would sport
- 500MHz AMD GEODE CS5536 CPU
- a 40GB hard disk
- 512MB of RAM
- 7” display with a resolution of 800×480
- a SD and CF slot
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth
- and its about 960g and measures 218×163x25.4mm
Though the processor seems a bit less when compared to other devices the price for sure is attractive at $750. There are other devices that we have profiled under “Alternative” category in the past and this would be one of them.

Samsung’s first origami/UMPC was Q1 and then the Q1b. Now they are jumping in to take the term “origami” and re-think the design. So what do we have; the SPH-P9000.

- Measuring in at 143 × 94.3 × 29.75-mm / 580-g (5.6 × 3.7 × 1.17-inches / 1.28-pounds)
- 1GHz Transmeta CPU and both Mobile WiMAX and EV-DO for data connectivity.
- 5-inch 854×480 (WVGA) LCD
- 30GB HDD
- 1.3 megapixel camera
- Bluetooth
With no WiFi it gets away from your attention when you sitting at the couch and if you’d like to browse using your WiFi Connection at home, but the good thing is that you could be using the internet while cursing at high speeds.

Even before the UMPCs there was OQO. The only problem was the price, recently the company lowered the pricing on their devices. These are now starting from $1199 very close what the UMPCs are selling for. Looks like future versions of the OQO might sport even more features.

The next OQO handheld PC, which could be out as soon as the Consumer Electronics Show in January, will have a brighter screen, improved keyboard, more memory, a bigger hard drive and wide-area wireless capability, all for about the same price as the current model. It already has WiFi and Bluetooth [..]

It’s time to learn Korean, There are these cool gadgets that are available (only for the Asian market though) and if you try to find more information, you’ll end up in all Korean sites. We found this device in the wild yes, it’s called the iStation S43 from a company called “Digital Cube“. We heard about some of their devices like the i series, but this is new. Though this might not be considered as a UMPC but it does have a lot of features of an UMPC.

This device seem to be playing audio & video and sports WiFi, 800 X 480 TFT screen powered by AMD and running on Windows CE. Does this sound like the vega! more pictures after the jump

Apple today annonced some new products but it was not what the rumors (a fullscreen video ipod) was all about. They had updated the iPods and redesigned the nano and made the shuffle the world’s smallest MP3 player and cheaper. One thing which was interesting is the iTunes Movie Store (with the same old DRM thing) which can now be played in iTunes, iPod and your big screen TV (wait did I say TV) yes TV, they also demonstrated a prototype named iTV (shceduled to be released Q1 2007) a set-top box that can stream your videos, audio and photos from your computer.
This is an interesting thing So will iTv work with the UMPC? I guess not. Calling those geeks in the Wild - Can we? Is that possible? Will UMPC share apple’s success? Anyways as for other the UMPC updates
