How did we miss this? If you’ve been reading about the UMPC’s then you should have come across carrypad.com’s definition of an UMPC, in that case this is an UMPC. Microsoft and some other do have a varied defenition of the device. In anycase this device is placed between the palm tops and laptops (so you decide)

According to Seamless Wifi this new device while maintaining its small size, has been specifically designed with a fully deployable folding “QWERTY keyboard for data manipulation and navigation allowing the user ease of access. It has a 4 inch high definition screen that provides a clear and crisp screen display. The unit is extremely versatile and will come as a completely loaded Wireless working computer. It is “Blue tooth enabled and can be used as well as an entertainment and gaming unit. The unit will also contain the Seamless patent-pending encryption software incorporated into its system to protect sensitive information.
The specifications are

We’ve seen & read the details of Vega. Steve at Carrypad has been following the story from the begining and has a lot of information on the device. The company that makes this device “raon digital” has put up more detailed information about the device. The good thing is that this nifty device is much smaller, has a screen size of 4.3″ and still supports a native resolution of 800X480 (which is the native resolution on all the UMPCs with 7″ screen) and has GPS built in.

Note that though Microsoft has this definition for Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC), Vega is marketed as Ultra Portable PC (UPPC). Interesting, Is it not?
Folks tell me if I’m wrong. For a device that has all these with no Keyboard, (yet) managed to squeez in the “Crtl+Alt+Del” in there -Why? Does it mean any device powered by Windows needs these keys no matter what?

Though Microsoft has been pushing the UMPC(touch based) and still has high hopes, Samsung just realized that even small devices (however small it is) there is a high demand for the Keyboards and is bundling it with its Q1. Now if you are looking for some alternatives that is cheap yet multi-tasking this might be one of them.
Sodiff’s WiBro which seems to have 4.3″ Screen with slide out KEYBOARD (like the Averatec AHI and Sony Vaio UX Series) and capable of video conferencing. Looks the the device is powered by Windows (we think it might just be Windows CE or Mobile)

When you have 2 minutes in line at the bank or need to pull over to double check driving directions, it’s never fun to wait 90 seconds or so to boot up.”

UPDATE: Make sure you read the article at
Digital Trends, which says this nifty gadget does compete well with the UMPCs and is much efficient than some of the microsoft tools.
