This is a great news. Asus is in the right direction(if its true) making R2H available through all its online resellers. This would mean anyone can order from anywhere unlike the other UMPCs limited availability. Over at propstm the word is
…shipments should be in by the beginning of October if not by the end of September. The device should be available through ASUS’ online resellers. When I asked about the pricing she said that the device would be $999. She said that the price would be for a standard model. She said that the standard model has a 60GB hard drive with 768MB RAM. She confirmed that the device also has the embedded GPS, camera, WI-FI, and Bluetooth

Now these are news from sources other than Asus, so we are not 100% sure on the exact details. Steve over at carrypad found a news that says the price in UK would be £799. John from Ultranauts says “the R2H has entered manufacturing and packaging and will ’ship’ in November“
This sounds kinda cool. With the price tag of £799 and shipping in November Asus should be able to catch up with the other UMPCs. As we all know, UMPCs are not availalbe in places you want it to be. Hopefully Asus will announce better availability.

After long time, Finally Asus announced the R2H with the following spec, thought this is kind of different from the one that we heard of
- Intel® Celeron® M ULV Processor (900MHz)
- Genuine Windows® XP Tablet PC Edition
- Onboard 256MB, DDRII 533, 1x SoDimm socket for expansion up to 768MB DDRII 667 DRAM support
- 7″ WXGA touch screen LCD, ASUS Splendid Video Intelligent Engine
- PATA 1.8″ HDD 4200PRM 20/30/40/60 GB
- Bluetooth® V2.0 + EDR, 3x USB, 1x SD Card-Reader, 1x GPS, 1x Finger Print Reader
- 23.4 x 13.3 x 2.8cm, 830 kg (update: Carrypad calls this a HEAVY BEAST and still asus has not corrected it)

It’s been more than a month since we saw the Asus R2H at the FCC, It was exptected that it would hit the market by early August and it’s almost the month end (well not exactly) but Asus has been remaining quite on the announcement.
