Fujitsu’s first generation of UMPCs surfaced around the same time last year, and with all sorts of product naming (Lifebook U810, Lifebook FMV U8240, loox U, U1010) for various regions.
Today they announced their next generation of UMPC called the “U2010″ which we guess will get other names soon, which will be powered by Atom. There are not much details on the specifications, one thing that is obvious is that the design has not changed a whole lot except that they have added new row of keys (6 instead of the 5 in the first generation), built in GPS & a 3.5G WAN support and looks a bit thinner.

We’re confused, Lets see what we have — an UMPC from fujitsu. How is it called?

- Fujitsu Lifebook U810 — as it will be called in the US
- Fujitsu Lifebook FMV U8240 when it was initially launched
- Fujitsu loox U in japan
- Fujitsu U1010 in Singapore & Malaysia
- … and there might be more that we are not aware of
Luckily they all sport almost same specs and from the same company. Fujitsu US has a lading page announcing the U810 as the “Small Wonder”. You can sign up with your email to get notified when it becomes available(mid september). Gizmodo has a unit in their hands and they are saying September 18th to be exact. They also have some good pics and initial thoughts on the product. The price on this device seems to be aggressive and attractive.

Until now the ultra portable was a whole different story. With the introduction on UMPCs the definition became a little harder. Here are a few pictures of Fujitsu ultra portable and the Ultra Mobile PC.
