  • Akihabara news got hold of the Sony UX-91S with 32GB of SSD, a Core Solo U1500, 1GB of RAM and Vista, They have posted a High Defenition video of the little device at its glory and lots of photos. More deets here
  • If you like to ink a lot and have some interest in painting you’ll love this. ArtRage 2 UMPC is a special version of the Full Edition of ArtRage 2 that has been optimised to work on the UltraMobile PC. ArtRage 2 UMPC has all of the features of the full version, with a redesigned interface that gives you easy access to all of the tools in the product without taking up screen real-estate. UMPC as the main Computer

If there is any news or update on the UMPC from Australia, you know it — it was not from Microsoft or Intel or Via but from Hugo Ortega. Hugo has posted 3 part video explaining why he moved from his tablet to the Samsung Q1 as this main computing device.

The following is a succinct three-part video documenting my thoughts and feelings towards Ultra-Mobile PC today and why I was able to replace my desktop, and therefore increase my productivity! So grab some popcorn and sit back and watch another episode of the UberTablet blog; or is that vlog?

Where are you Averatec AHI

It’s surprising that Averatec has not yet announced the AHI yet, This would compete well with the Sony UX series (form factor, if not for the config) and the Medion RIM 1000 for the built in keyboard.

We were hoping to see this as one of the announcements at CES today, May be sooner, after all that’s the reason that CES runs for days together. We’re waiting, still waiting and waiting….

Catching up with the updates

In preparation for the big event(CES) a lot of companies are getting their devices ready. Not to mention those detailes that have already been made public before the announcements, here is a recap

  • SanDisk will be announcing the new 32GB SSD -it’s good that many manufactures are stepping in, obviously bringing down the price tag. [via engadget]
  • iRiver is set to announce variety of devices including the one dubbed “W10″ that is similar to the UMPC but not exactly, the specs are not clear yet but it will have WiFi, VOIP and audio playing capabilities.

  • Someone has done cool plugin to IE that would convert the youtube or Google videos in to Windows based formats to be played on a Zune. Now that does not limit us from using it on a UMPC, well though the UMPC has a full featured OS and a browser, you might not be online all the time, say when you are travelling. Download ZuneIEplugin [via jkOnTheRun]
  • Speaking of being connected while travelling, a company named Autonet Mobile has something cool, yes a mobile broadband connection in your car. Check it out
