We first sighted this device as the “Arima” and later Medion announced it and this was supposed to be the first UMPC to ship with Vista and was scheduled for Jan 30. Steve has posted that it might get further delayed.

Gigabyte seems to be readying their UMPC dubbed the “Gigabyte U60″ which looks same as the Medion/Arima (if this is what the product will look like). They are planning to launch it at CeBIT 2007.

That’s exactly what these guys did, This could as well be done for the UMPC, may be it’s just a matter of time. Imagine having a laptop that is dual screen, no no not that Windows SideShow or dual screen thing. A real notebook/laptop that has only screens yes, 2 screens that you can touch, draw and type on. Won’t this be cool.

…its only sold in Italy and Australia, but if u can get your hands into one, you’ll never take them off. “Sketch pad, music score, graph paper: the Canova by is the redefinition of the tool for the creative mind. Dual display, dual touch-sensitive screens, an electronic pen and a dedicated hardware allowed us to bring this jewel to life.’

Well looks like HTC Advantage Portable Office is the official name for the device, though this device is not a full featured PC and might not be defined or filed under the UMPC category it’s a good alternative.
HTC has launched a site dedicated to the device with lots of information.

Detailed spec after the jump… Continue reading ‘HTC — Athena, Ameo and now the Advantage’

in Hardware and OQO.
The boy Genius got hold of the OQO Model 2 and have posted some unboxing pictures.

If there is one object of lust from the CES show I’d have to say it’s the newly announced OQO 2. Picking up where the previous models 01 and 01+ left off it adds new features, a fresh design and even more functionality. This is possibly the best UMPC portable computer out now. From the redesigned keyboard (which is now backlit!) to touch scroll bars (vertical and horizontal) to a built-in Sprint EV-DO modem it really kicks major arse. The performance is good, especially for just a small compact unit, very speedy and the zoom feature is great.
