Samsung Q1 Ultra — shipping in may, starting at $799

As we heard, Samsung is ready with its Q1 Ultra to ship this month. The best part comes from the pricing part of it. Samsung has always been the first in this game, Even when the first generation of UMPCs were announced a year back, they were the first to hit the store shelves and even this time.

Samsung Q1 Ultra to ship in a Month!

Engadget reports that Samsung is getting ready to ship the product by May. There has not been any official word on the pricing from samsung still, but it is believed to be around $1600 as Steve reported earlier.

…which means we have about a month to figure out if we’re willing to sacrifice the slickness of the onscreen keyboard foisted upon us by 1st generation UMPCs with the actual convenience of being able to type. While that added width might look a tad frumpy, what’s clear is that the specs and connectivity here are enough to melt the hardest of hearts…

HID drivers for Q1 — Thanks CTitanic

Frank more known as CTitanic has been hinting that he was busy doing something and today he says it all. He has also released the HID drivers for Samsung Q1. If you are wondering why you need those drivers? Get the answer here.

Sometimes it’s sad to read stuff like

I included a readme.txt file with instructions, please follow them. Remember, this is a “AS IS” release, and even when I can guarantee that it works you ARE ON YOUR OWN. Do not count on Samsung for help (these guys are busy making money) and do not bother EETI either (these guys are really busy doing a good job).

Samsung Q1 Ultra — Availability & Pricing

Stevy has it, no no not that Stevy — Steve of UMPC Portal. The Samsung Q1 Ultra had wonderful things to say about, when they lunched the product at CeBIT. There is no official word from Samsung on the availability & pricing, but steve says he has it.

Initially it was speculated to be a whopping $2400 and now looks like it is getting the actual price point.

…Samsung have told our contacts that they have now fixed their Q1 roadmap and that the base Q1 Ultra with HSDPA will be offered for 1200 Euro. I’m almost reluctant so say that again because it sounds too good to be true. Especially after all the pricing chaos of earlier today. But as I’ve been assured that this is the final price and 100% conrrect info, I’m going to go out on a limb and say it again.

Q1 Ultra with HSDPA - 1200 Euro. Availability in May 2007 (thats around US $1600)

Samsung Q1 Ultra, hands on Video

Samsung Q1 might be one of the best UMPC out there (yet!) The specs are really attractive, the price will decide the fame of the device. Looks like Samsung is already in plans to make a low-end version of the same device with a less expensive price tag on it.
