Remember the post that we had yesterday about the new Sony approval on the FCC, looks like it might be just the temp name for the Vaio UX180 that will be sold and listed on Sony’s Website.
Reggie of MicroPC Talk, prompted us (thanks reggie) that it’s the UX and nothing else and interestingly that sony might have been working on such a product even before microsoft announced the UMPC.
While the FCC shows that they have approved a Sony handheld device with model number PCG-1J1L, we believe that this is the Sony Vaio UX180P. PCG-1J1L is obviously a temporary model number since nowhere in all the
FCC documents mentioned Vaio when the image found in one of the documents clearly has a Vaio brand at the back (aio visible) .
It is also interesting to note that Sony requested confidentiality of the device from the FCC on March 24, 2006, only a few days after the official announcement of the UMPC. This might mean that Sony was already hard at work designing their Micro PC probably way before the UMPC concept
was even thought of.
Check out the image which compares the FCC pic with the Vaio UX. Micro PC Talk has added arrows to show how the the PCG-1J1L is exactly as that of the Vaio UX 180P (VGN-UX180P)

in Asus, Hardware and Specs.
Just came across the article on jkOnTheRun that Asus might be coming out with Intel Core Duo, but we wondered why the specualtion when ASUS seems to have promised it already. Well Asus has not yet announced a clear spec anyways.
When the WinHEC was held, Asus had a stall and they had displayed the R2H, Cisco Cheng - PC Magazine reported on ABC news on May 25th that….
…Samsung proudly displayed their Hybrid hard drive, consisting of both a flash component and a disk component. The hard drive will be used in conjunction with Windows
ReadyDrive, allowing these hybrids to drive performance and increase notebook battery life. ReadyDrive caches information a lot quicker by using flash memory. You can literally launch applications within seconds, as opposed to longer wait times using the spinning component.
Finally, I passed by the Asus booth where I saw the company’s own lackluster UMPC. Like the Samsung Q1, the Asus UMPC neither has a built-in keyboard nor a built-in optical drive. Asus is listing it with an Intel Core Duo processor, which is a lot faster than the 900Mhz Celeron, and it also has built-in GPS, as opposed to an optional CF card GPS device on the Samsung Q1. You’ll also notice a built-in Web cam and a fingerprint reader. The R2H is loaded with Windows Tablet OS edition and weighs less than 2 pounds. No word on pricing yet [...]

Carrypad reviews the Paceblade easybook p7 UMPC. A detailed 7 page review which covers all that we need to know about the device.
Over the last week we’ve been fortunate enough to have one of the first Microsoft Origami-based UMPC’s to arrive in Europe. Its an Easybook P7 from Paceblade, a VIA C7-M based device.
We’ve lived with the device and put it though some typical useage scenarios. Its certainly mobile and certainly very easy to use as it run a standard Microsoft Windows XP operating system with Tablet (touch screen) extensions.
There’s no hardware keyboard and only 800×480 pixels to play with it - is it really enough to be useful? [...]
