Fujitsu unveils a new UMPC

This week has been a busy week, there are so many new products of interest being unveiled. We heard about Fujitsu working on such a device back in march. But this is more interesting.

fujitsu_cd_umpc.jpg

This is just the size of a CD case and has touchscreen capabilities. With its size the company feels its would be used for a lot of mobile applications and music. It has a built in camera too.

Now, as for the specs nothing is disclosed yet. From the image they also seem to have some games being prepared for it. So is that screen something like the Microsoft Touchpack? Well we’ll have to wait and see. Does this look like a Mac Mini much smaller and kinda sliced?? (or is it just me)

More pictures after the jump… Continue reading ‘Fujitsu unveils a new UMPC’

Kohjinsha - UMPC alternative

Well Steve over at carrypad would start screaming if I were to say this is not an UMPC, and there has been enough number of people who have talked about this. Nevertheless this device is a nice alternative to the UMPC. Looks like this does not have touchscreen (no mentions of it anywhere).

kohjinsha.jpg

The device would sport

  • 500MHz AMD GEODE CS5536 CPU
  • a 40GB hard disk
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 7” display with a resolution of 800×480
  • a SD and CF slot
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • and its about 960g and measures 218×163x25.4mm

Though the processor seems a bit less when compared to other devices the price for sure is attractive at $750. There are other devices that we have profiled under “Alternative” category in the past and this would be one of them.
