We did hear about HTC entering in to the UMPC Market. The much rumored Athena X7500 is not an UMPC but a Windows Mobile PC.

This spec seems to be
- 400MHz Samsung processor
- 3.55-inch QVGA touch-screen with stylus and detachable QWERTY(yes, detachable when you need to keep things light.)
- UMTS 2100 with tri-band GSM/GPRS radio (no EDGE or HSDPA)
- 802.11b/g WiFi
- 256MB ROM
- 64MB RAM
- 2 megapixel camera
- SD expansion
- and USB 1.1 interface.
The interesting seems to be the detachable keyboard. Well with the specs above we are not even sure if it will the US markets anytime soon.
HTC’s Athena (X7500): a WinMo PPC, not UMPC [engadget]

Finally something with a decent screen size. I have been waiting empty-handed for this sort of device for 3 years. Phone, net plus IMAP client plus good browser, PIM, media player. Add a big memory card and I’m SET.
Shame about the UMPC really. I was psyched about them until I saw the failed cost point (which persists to this day, and the devices are only just now not sucking). I’d much rather have 7″ and a real Windows.
