When UMPC was launched there were only 3 of them Samsung Q1, Asus R2h and the Founfer Mini-note (Compared here) Let’s see, How many do we have today.
- Samsung Q1
- TabletKiosk eo 7100 series
- TabletKiosk eo 7200 series
- PBJ SmartCaddie
- Pioneer Dreambook PC700
- Asus R2H
- ECS H70
- Founder Mininote
- Daewoo Lucoms M1 Solo
Looks like there are quite a lot of these UMPCs to choose from, but the Tabletkiosk eo 7100 series, SmartCaddie and the Dreambook are the same. The ECS H70, Founder Mininote, Daewoo Lucoms and the Tabletkiosk eo 7200 series are the same. Taking these in to consideration all we have are 4 models including the Samsung Q1 and the Asus R2H.

The latest addition of the Tabletkiosk eo 7200 series will fall in to the 4th type in the above shown pic
Interestingly enough, there seems to be so many of them, but the ones that are available in the US today are
- Samsung Q1 (Intel)
- Tabletkiosk eo 7100 (VIA) - First known to be the SmartCaddie
- Tabletkiosk eo 7100 (Intel) - First known to be the Founder
I’m sure there are many of us waiting for the Asus R2H and other alternatives like the Averatech AHI.

There are indeed only 4 announced models. But there are 2 completely unique unannounced models. They are coming.
I agree, all the models look the same with minor differences. What this OS needs is more creative hardware such as
- devices that have a touch type keyboard and a smaller
form factor say a pocket size verion that is 7.5″x 3.5″
in size. That would enable 1/2 vga viewing of files and
enable it to fit in a pocket.
The problem with this hardware thus far is they are too large to be carried without a computer bag, etc., the functionality is limited due to no touch type keyboard, and the general computer features do not differentiate enough compared to small laptops or tablets.
