Wow, So looks like apple has applied for a new patent for “activation of virtual keys of a touch screen keyboard“. Hope the guys at Dialkeys have patented their stuff, if not they’ll be siorry for it. Well they are not exactly the same but does have a lot of similarities.

There has been a lot of patents from apple lately for touch screen, they might be actively working on a Tablet and / or the rumored Video iPod. In any case things are interesting to see small handheld devices taking the main stage.
James (jkOnTheRun) says
- Apple just filed a patent for an on-screen keyboard similar to the DialKeys application that various UMPCs are using.
- Previous Apple patents included a virtual click-wheel and the supporting renderings indicated a slate-like device.
- Adaptation of Intel processors in Apple products opens the door for inclusion of a Celeron M, which we already know will power the Samsung Q1.
Obvious, enough there is something that Apple is upto. Hope to see some interesting products soon.

dear apple,
make a umpc, make it quick. to parallel my life i must say that you just have to shoot. when playing soccer and you shoot at the goal your going to miss but your also bound to score. just put out more products and get the percentages ups. what i want to see is a full mac roughly the size of a ipod, maybe slightly bigger (5′). until then I’m going to get windows mobile 5. until something regarding the pocketable computer arrives in your neck of the woods and then ill make my way back to the mac camp. but please make me happy this christmas and create a umpc. i dont care about screen resolution, i have good eyes and can write small. so make something like all the inote rumors lie to me about. inote is awesome. so learn thats what so many people want. thanks apple for the great stuff.
yours again, once you make a umpc,
arodriguez
I doubt Apple would release a UMPC in the next 24 Months, they still need to fix the current problems with the Intel macs, displays and touchscreen for the next gen ipods first.
UMPC is the future !
Cheers,
