YAUMPC: Yet another UMPC

Well, not officially but looks like it. ULTRA MOBILE PCs TIPS just posted about an article on I4U about the Avertec AHI. Now the original news site is in French and here is the translated Version.

Looks like avertec just created the AHI to compete with others like samsung and asus. But as the configuration it’s the same thing as any other UMPC. The only thing that seems to be different is the Screen size.

  • Powered by INTEL Celeron ULV
  • 512 MB of memroy
  • 30 GB Storage Capacity
  • 18.6 X 9.0 X 3.3 cm – 730g
  • Wow 6 hours of battery life
  • Touch Screen – 5″
  • Runs Windows XP – what happened to the Tablet OS?
  • Optional GPS and 3G add-ons
  • Wifi, 2 USB 2.0 , Ethernet , Modem
  • Built-in sliding keyboard.
  • looks like it has a camera too

So for the pricing at 499 euros (~US $600) for the basic one and with all add-ons the so called luxury model would be 899 euros (~US $1090) available this Christmas. Now that’s an attractive price.

The price is right, I’m leaning toward the AHI now, I have an Averatec notebook, was inexpensive works fine.

Yep me too- i was really impressed at the price and the config : I wud have loved it if it had the tablet OS though. To me i dont care about the screen size really for this price

i wonder about that rubber button scheme. I have never like them on any device i owned. anything is a better option from hard plastic to oqo smooth buttons. when the soft plastic gets abused they have fallen out of my gadgets.
